AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS #1 – MARVEL COMICS – (W) Dan Slott (A) Adam Kubert

ASM Renew Your Vows 1

I am the whitest of white girls after this because I literally can’t even. Everyone is probably aware by now that I’m a huge sucker for Spider-Man and MJ and when I first heard this was on the cards I could feel something special brewing. Slott delivers. As a father and a Spider-fan this was nearly pinpoint perfect, quickly establishing Peter as a husband and dad and indicating how his role as Spidey fits in and around this new responsibility. Responsibility is an important word in the Spider-Man universe and by the end of this issue Slott will make it very clear what Peter’s responsibilities are and what he’s prepared to do to meet them. It’s a different Spider-Man than we’ve become accustomed to, but he also finds himself in very different situations. In between all that we’ve got some Avengers action, all the supers are either being killed or disappearing, and Venom shoes up to threaten the absolute core of Peter’s world. I’m a big fan of Kubert’s work as well and he carries out everything that’s out before him, allowing the reader to focus on the content of the story instead. I absolutely thought this was something special, but feel free to disregard my opinion if you’re not quite as big a Spidey fan/sucker as I am.
